Master-Planned Santa Clarita Community

Lots & Land in Valencia, CA

Welcome to Valencia, a master-planned Santa Clarita Valley community built around a connected paseo trail system, home to Six Flags Magic Mountain and CalArts.

Valencia is a master-planned community within the city of Santa Clarita, in the Santa Clarita Valley of northwestern Los Angeles County, California. It lies roughly thirty miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, along the Interstate 5 corridor. Valencia was developed beginning in the 1960s by the Newhall Land and Farming Company, with the first residents arriving in 1967, and it became one of the four communities—along with Newhall, Saugus, and Canyon Country—that merged to incorporate the city of Santa Clarita in 1987. The community is best known for its paseo system, an extensive network of landscaped trails, pedestrian bridges, and green spaces that connect its residential villages so that residents can walk or bike between neighborhoods, schools, and shopping without crossing major roads. This design, unusual for Southern California suburbs, is central to Valencia's identity. Individual villages such as Northbridge, Bridgeport, Woodlands, and Creekside each carry their own character, with Bridgeport built around a community lake and many villages organized around neighborhood schools and parks. Valencia's economy and profile are shaped by entertainment and education. Six Flags Magic Mountain, which opened in 1971, and its adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park are among the largest employers in the Santa Clarita Valley and draw visitors regionally. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), founded in 1961, and College of the Canyons, a large community college, anchor the area's educational and cultural presence. Shopping and civic life concentrate at the Valencia Town Center and along the Magic Mountain and Valencia Boulevard corridors. Public schools fall under two districts: the Saugus Union School District for elementary grades and the William S. Hart Union High School District for junior high and high school, including Valencia High School and West Ranch High School. Valencia's blend of planned open space, family-oriented villages, and access to both the Santa Clarita Valley's employers and the greater Los Angeles region makes it a defining example of Southern California master-planned suburban living.
